As President, I would like to thank all who attended for their support, participation, and their membership. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Following the orientation we had a great turnout for the Email Accessible Use class. We taught a full house and everyone walked away better prepared for the school year. Thanks go out to our volunteer instructors Linda Carter, Helene McIntosh, and Christa Baucom. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>They say lightning never strikes twice in the same spot, but it has for your association. This is second time that we have lost a secretary before induction… our last has taken a full time position, and we wish her the best. We, therefore, are in dire need of a secretary… just check out the pre-release missive… it escaped proofreading! If you would like to serve and help, contact President Marvin… leave a message at our office (239) 335-1508. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Reminder: the Association dues are now due. The yearly dues have remained the same at $20.00 per school year (which starts August 1st and ends July 31st). So, if you have not as yet joined, please send in your dues. Download, fill it out, and send to the treasurer.<o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>The next Email Accessible Use class will be Friday Sept. 5th, 2014 at central office, room “C” from 5:00-8:00pm. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>SPECIAL NOTICE TO ALL SUBS: In July, the school board approved a recess time for all Elementary Schools. As a result you might have to cover a recess time. At present, there is an additional required training class for PLAYGROUND SUPERVISION. As of this time all teachers are required to take this class. We believe it will also be required of all subs who teach elementary school. Although not currently required for subs as of this writing, the association suggests you take this class. Best way to see the course is go to <a href="http://lee.fl.safeschools.com/login" title="http://lee.fl.safeschools.com/login CTRL + Click to follow link">SAFE SCHOOLS</a>, scroll to heading SOCIAL AND BEHAVIOR and find link PLAYGROUND SUPERVISION. It is recommended that you print out your certificate. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Please also note that if you took the Email Accessible Use quiz prior to 07AUG2014 you are required to retake it. It is an entirely new version of the training material and test. You have until October 1 to complete it.<o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Being a substitute teacher brings with it all the constant changes to Education. You are reminded that this means taking classes when they are offered. Once again your LCAPST association and the District have joined to offer you classes designed to keep you current. In September we will put a list of which courses will be available. We will offer a variety, and there will be one class each month for your edification. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Also if you see a class that interests you on any staff development course for teachers you are eligible to take it, if there are openings. <o:p></o:p><o:p> </o:p>Finally: Wellness is back in full swing! The district offers all kinds of classes for all employees in each zone. Check your District emails for more information.
