My friends,
I hope you are all doing well and that this past winter has not been a
terrible travail on you.
I'm looking forward to the balance of the school year and I'm glad to report
substitute teachers in Maryland are having a very good year. The rebound in
the national economy finally is reaching us!
The news about the projected conference in Orlando will probably not come as
much of a surprise to you but I have found it to be impossible to put
together the necessary arrangements for a successful conference for this
summer.
I consider 2014 to have been the best program we ever put on with the worst
attendance. It cost our treasury and it cost all us personally in enthusiasm
and spirit.
2014 was the "Linda and Jim" conference, as I saw it. We won't do that
again. Two people can not put on a successful event no matter how hard they
try.
I look forward to other successful ventures with the board and an expanded
membership. Our revamped web site and the joint venture with Enservio are a
good basis for future success.
I have expressions of interest from Birmingham Alabama for a 2016 NSTA
gathering of some sort but only "Interest".Would the Board like to pursue
doing something there?
I look forward to working with you all and I'd be pleased to hear from you
on future directions you see for NSTA.
Jim

Jokes You Can Tell in Class
Whenever my aunt went to the doctor, she would complain to me about the long
delay she always endured.
One day, when my aunt's name was finally called, she was asked to step on
the scale. "I need to get your weight today," said the nurse.
Without a moment's hesitation, my aunt replied, "One hour and 45 minutes!"
