California and Colorado signed on Monday to national education standards in reading and math that are expected to be adopted by about 40 states -- giving them a better chance at winning a share of $3.4 billion in Race to the Top funds. Minnesota, however, will not adopt the national standards, citing concerns over the rigor of the math curriculum.
