On September 29, 2023, the president Jim Politis and treasurer / webmaster
Linda Carter, the two remaining officers, held an NSTA Board meeting.  
During the meeting there was a discussion as to what the future of NSTA
should be. Over the past three to four years we have lost all but two of the
remaining board members and officers. Many of the officers and members are
no longer with us and no new members have joined. 
The remaining two officers and only members of the organization, Jim and
Linda, have come to the conclusion that it is time for an orderly
deactivation of the organization. 
Barring a sudden change, the website, which is good until the end of this
year, or the end of the yearly renewal, will not be renewed.  The domain
nsta.org will not be renewed.  This being effective December 31st 2023, the
organization will no longer seek members. 
The treasurer will make sure all outstanding debts are paid out of our
Truist account which will be closed with a final accounting. During this
discussion we decided that the remaining funds will go to an education
organization such as NEA or a state affiliate such as Florida or Maryland.  
With this being accomplished and unless sudden interest is generated from
substitute teachers the final deactivation will take place automatically at
midnight on December 31st, 2023.
